Athena Bitcoin Sued Over Alleged Theft of Bitcoin ATM Source Code

Athena Bitcoin Inc. has failed to escape most of AML Software Inc.'s claims that it stole computer source code used in Bitcoin ATMs, according to a US District Court ruling.

Judge Rodolfo A. Ruiz II of the Southern District of Florida ruled on Tuesday that six out of eight total claims brought by AML survived Athena's motion to dismiss.

The surviving claims include copyright infringement, misappropriation of trade secrets, and breach of fiduciary duty, but the court dismissed conversion claims regarding license payments and against Ryan Pineo, AML's former president and primary code developer.
