ATOM Price Nears Key Breakout at $1.90 Amid Recovery Progress
The ATOM price is nearing a crucial resistance level after recovering from recent lows. On the daily chart, a symmetrical triangle pattern has formed, with higher lows and a descending resistance trendline converging. ATOM is now trading near the upper boundary of this pattern, with the $1.90 mark acting as a key breakout point. If ATOM breaks through $1.90, it could signal a stronger upward move, but another rejection might push the token back toward support.
In related news, the Cosmos Hub is advancing in its efforts to recover funds lost in the Neutron governance attack. A new governance proposal seeks to authorize the transfer of 1,227,121 recovered ATOM tokens to the Neutron Recovery multisig. This follows the September attack, where approximately 1.723 million ATOM were stolen. The recovered tokens were secured after Cosmos Hub validators halted the network and implemented a state change to move the remaining balance into a recovery multisig.
The proposal would allow the multisig signers to transfer the recovered balance, minus network fees, via IBC to the Neutron recovery multisig. The next steps would involve Neutron governance to return the funds to the affected contracts. This development provides a fresh catalyst for the ATOM ecosystem as the token approaches a major technical resistance.
From a technical standpoint, ATOM is trading around $1.80, $1.81, with the first resistance at $1.84, $1.86 and a more important breakout area at $1.90, $1.95. A decisive daily close above the upper trendline could bring $2.00 into focus. On the downside, the immediate support zone is $1.75, $1.80, with deeper pullbacks potentially targeting $1.60, $1.65.
The broader outlook for ATOM is improving, with technical strength and ecosystem developments boosting investor confidence. Successful resolution of the Neutron incident, along with stronger ecosystem activity, could pave the way for a broader trend reversal.
