August Hacking Surge Hits Digital-Asset Industry with $136 Million in Losses
The digital-asset industry suffered a significant increase in hacking incidents last month. According to blockchain security firm PeckShield, there were 50 hacking incidents in August, up 67% from July.
This surge in attacks resulted in losses of $136.3 million, which represents a 49.5% decline from the previous month's total.
The largest loss was at decentralized-finance protocol Tectonic, which lost approximately $74 million. Cronos (CRO) also suffered significant losses of $6 million.
