August Volatility Hits Bitcoin

Bitcoin's price has slipped below $63,000 as investors grew cautious due to weak AI stocks and traditional August seasonality. Over the past 24 hours, the cryptocurrency retreated by around three percent.

The decline coincided with a brief rebound in Asian semiconductor stocks that quickly lost momentum. Major chipmakers had rallied sharply earlier in the week, but their recovery faded just as swiftly, leading to concerns that it was only a temporary relief rally.

The cooling of enthusiasm for AI-related equities has rippled into digital assets, causing Ethereum to slip to around $1,860 and Solana to hover near $73. XRP traded close to $1.06, reflecting broad-based selling across leading tokens.

Questions over the sustainability of AI infrastructure spending have unsettled semiconductor valuations, affecting Bitcoin's price alongside technology equities. Institutional investors often treat cryptocurrencies as part of the same risk-sensitive basket, causing digital currencies to come under pressure when they trim exposure or raise cash positions.
