AUSTRAC Suspends Cryptolink Registration, Forcing Bitcoin ATMs Offline
Australia's anti-money laundering regulator, AUSTRAC, has suspended Cryptolink's registration for three months, forcing its 96 Bitcoin ATMs offline. The suspension began on August 9 after the regulator identified continued reporting failures by Cryptolink.
Cryptolink had previously paid a $56,340 infringement notice in October 2025 for late transaction reporting failures and weaknesses in its money-laundering and terrorism-financing risk assessments.
The suspension is part of AUSTRAC's efforts to tighten oversight of crypto ATMs and prevent money laundering. The regulator has imposed stricter requirements on virtual asset service providers, including enhanced customer due diligence controls and mandatory scam warnings.
