Bitcoin Traders Bet on Macro Indicators Over On-Chain Metrics
Bitcoin traders are shifting their focus from on-chain metrics and halving cycles to macroeconomic factors, treating Bitcoin as a macro-sensitive asset class. The shift is driven by institutional participation, with approximately 17.9% of all Bitcoin holdings now attributed to publicly traded companies, private firms, ETFs, and sovereign entities.
The Federal Reserve's recent pause on quantitative tightening has improved liquidity conditions across risk assets, injecting capital into the financial system. Grayscale's December 2025 projections argue that rising public debt levels and persistent inflation risks are creating structural demand for Bitcoin as an alternative store of value.
ETFs have opened a direct pipeline between traditional capital allocators and the Bitcoin market, with portfolio managers rebalancing based on interest rate expectations, inflation forecasts, and risk budgets. This has fundamentally rewired Bitcoin's market structure, making it behave more like its neighbors in diversified portfolios.
