Australian Crypto ATMs Suspended Amid AML Scrutiny
Australia's anti-money laundering watchdog has suspended Cryptolink's Bitcoin ATM operations for three months, citing ongoing concerns over its compliance with AML obligations.
The suspension was made by AUSTRAC, Australia's anti-money laundering regulator, which noted that Cryptolink failed to meet basic reporting requirements and did not respond to requests for information.
Cryptolink is one of the largest operators of crypto ATMs in Australia, a country with the highest number of crypto ATMs in the Asia-Pacific region.
The suspension raises questions about the impact on the country's crypto ATM sector and, indirectly, Bitcoin accessibility, which is already struggling to break through key resistance levels.
