Australian Man Charged with Using Cryptocurrency for Child Abuse Material
A 29-year-old Australian man has been charged with several offenses related to the alleged use of cryptocurrency to purchase child sexual abuse material. Jamie Bell, from Albury, was arrested and taken to Albury Police Station after a search warrant was executed on his home. The police seized electronic devices, drugs, and other items for forensic examination.
Bell is accused of possessing prohibited drugs, producing and possessing child sexual abuse material, as well as producing animal sexual abuse material. He is also charged with possessing a child-like sex doll and breaching bail conditions. The arrest was carried out by cybercrime unit officers as part of the ongoing Strike Force Angle investigation.
The court denied Bell's application for bail, citing concerns that he posed a danger to the community and may fail to appear in court if released. The magistrate noted that the alleged actions were planned, which supported the prosecution's arguments against bail. Bell is due to appear before Albury Local Court via video link in November.
