Avalanche Blockchain Secures Kenyan Educational Records
The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has implemented blockchain technology to secure approximately 35 million educational records. The initiative uses Avalanche's C-Chain infrastructure and aims to combat widespread academic certificate forgery in Kenya.
Around 15 million academic credentials have already been integrated into the platform, with over one million KCSE 2025 certificates now distributed exclusively through the electronic certification system. Employers can verify these qualifications instantly online via a protected verification portal.
The new system eliminates the need for time-consuming paper-based processes and fragmented institutional record systems. It also reduces the risk of counterfeit academic documents and fraudulent qualification claims, which were common in Kenya's conventional verification procedures.
