Avalanche Outpaces Solana with Multi-Chain Architecture Amidst Rival Blockchain Upgrades
Solana and Avalanche are two high-speed blockchains competing for dominance in the crypto space. Solana's single-chain design prioritizes shared liquidity, but it also means applications compete for limited blockspace.
Avalanche, on the other hand, uses a multi-chain approach with 81 Layer 1 blockchains supported as of mid-June 2026. This setup offers isolation and customization but fragments liquidity.
Solana's Firedancer validator client was launched in December 2025 by Jump Crypto and has reached more than 20% active validators. It aims to achieve one million transactions per second, exceeding its current performance of over 600,000 TPS.
