Avalanche Sheds Light on Ethereum Rivalry with New Architecture
Avalanche positioned itself against Ethereum by matching its developer tools while replacing its consensus mechanism, single-chain model, and validator penalties.
The platform's C-Chain is compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine, allowing developers to deploy Solidity contracts and use MetaMask, Hardhat, and Foundry with only a chain ID change. Avalanche split the work across three coordinated chains: the C-Chain for smart contracts, the X-Chain for asset issuance and transfers, and the P-Chain for coordinating validators and independent chains.
Avalanche uses Snowman consensus, a probabilistic and leaderless protocol that converges on an answer in under a second. Unlike Ethereum, Avalanche does not have slashing-based validator security; instead, validators forfeit rewards if they go offline or misbehave.
