Avalanche Surges 7% After Kenya Deploys Blockchain-Based Certificate Verification Platform
Avalanche's price has risen by more than 7% over the past 24 hours due to the launch of a blockchain-based academic certificate verification platform in Kenya. The platform, developed by the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) in collaboration with Ava Labs, will secure between 30 and 35 million education records on the Avalanche network.
The rollout covers examination records dating back to 1989, while nearly one million students each year are expected to receive blockchain-backed digital certificates beginning with the 2025-2026 graduating classes. The platform aims to replace slow, paper-based authentication procedures with blockchain-backed digital verification and address a longstanding problem of forged academic certificates.
The initiative also digitizes decades of legacy examination records, giving former students access to verifiable credentials without relying solely on physical documents. This deployment adds another real-world application supported by a government institution to the Avalanche network, which is relatively uncommon compared with decentralized finance or gaming applications.
