Aviva Unveils Tokenized Share Class on XRP Ledger with Ripple Partnership
Aviva Investors has launched its first tokenized fund share class on the XRP Ledger, in partnership with Ripple. The US Dollar Liquidity Fund is a regulated money market fund that now offers a blockchain-based digital asset version.
The new share class was approved by the Central Bank of Ireland, marking a significant regulatory milestone for tokenized funds. This structure has been designed to operate entirely within existing regulatory frameworks, allowing tokenization without changing how the underlying portfolio is managed.
Ripple provided the blockchain infrastructure through XRPL, while Komainu served as the regulated digital asset custodian and Licuido supplied the tokenization platform that converts traditional fund shares into blockchain-based digital assets. The company believes that regulated tokenized funds have the potential to make fund issuance, transfers, and administration more efficient.
Aviva Investors' USD Liquidity Fund was started in 2020 to offer high-quality short-term debt securities in U.S. dollars with low investment risk and daily liquidity. New investors can sign up for the tokenized share class, which trades on the XRP Ledger, but will still have their underlying assets protected by The Bank of New York Mellon.
