Aztec Labs Revives zk.money Wallet with Private Ethereum Transactions
Aztec Labs has relaunched zk.money on its private Ethereum layer-2 network, Aztec Network. This revives the company's original wallet for private transactions, which was retired in 2023 after reaching over 75,000 unique wallets and processing $100 million in volume.
The new wallet keeps balances, transfer amounts, and transaction parties off the public ledger, allowing users to send and receive funds through readable zk.money handles. Aztec Labs claims this self-custodial design gives account holders control of their financial history, unlike on-chain transactions which expose details to anyone who looks up an address.
Aztec Labs' CEO, Joe Andrews, said that users should not have to publish their financial history when making payments between two individuals. The company has planned a mobile app for the wallet and is currently available through the zk.money website or locally run frontend.
