Aztec Labs Revives zk.money with Enhanced Privacy Features
Aztec Labs has relaunched its self-custody privacy wallet zk.money on the Ethereum Layer 2 Aztec Network, three years after it was discontinued in 2023. According to Mars Finance, the new version of zk.money does not publicly display user balances or transaction information on the public ledger.
Aztec Labs CEO Joe Andrews stated that the original product was discontinued due to scalability issues and the inability to easily add new features, despite serving over 75,000 unique wallets and processing more than $100 million in transactions. The new version supports users registering ENS usernames such as 'bob.zk.money' and allows payments to be sent or requested via links.
Aztec Labs plans to introduce mobile app support and integration with Ethereum DeFi protocols in Q4, although specific launch dates and partners have not been announced. Users will also be able to restrict which parties can interact with their username.
