Aztec Network Aims High with Private Payments Product
Aztec Network is making waves in the Ethereum ecosystem with its private and non-custodial payments product, zk.money. Built on top of the Aztec network, zk.money utilizes zero-knowledge proofs to enable transactions without revealing sensitive information.
According to Joe Andrews, co-founder and CEO of Aztec Labs, this approach allows for a programmable layer 2 on Ethereum that differs from Zcash. He believes that privacy becomes increasingly valuable as economic activity grows, leading to potential applications for institutions and AI agents in areas such as conditional payments and private identity checks.
Andrews also discussed the role of the Aztec token in staking, transaction fees, and network decentralization. While regulatory and compliance clarity remain important hurdles for institutional adoption, he notes that technical foundations are largely in place.
