Aztec Relaunches zk.money Private Crypto Wallet on Ethereum Layer 2
Aztec Labs has relaunched zk.money, a self-custodial wallet for private crypto payments on its Ethereum Layer 2 network. The new version of zk.money was three years in the making and follows significant advancements to the underlying infrastructure.
The original zk.money launched in 2021 but was discontinued in 2023 due to scalability issues. Aztec Labs' CEO, Joe Andrews, stated that the earlier system was difficult to expand globally, but the new infrastructure, built on Aztec Network, gives developers more room to add features.
Users can claim a simple handle such as bob.zk.money and send or request payments by sharing a link. The wallet also supports Ethereum Name Service technology and can work with apps that support ENS. A mobile app is planned for Q4, but no set launch date has been announced.
