Aztec Revives zk.money Wallet with Improved Private Transactions
Aztec Labs is reviving its self-custodial wallet zk.money, which enables users to send and receive stablecoins without broadcasting their transactions on the Ethereum network. The original zk.money was shut down three years ago, but Aztec has now relaunched it with improved features.
The wallet uses Aztec Network, a layer-2 solution that settles back to Ethereum, to provide private functions. Users can send USDC, USDT, or DAI from an exchange or Ethereum wallet without revealing their balances, amounts, or recipients. Transactions are limited to $2,500 each, and all users share a daily deposit ceiling of $50,000.
Aztec CEO Joe Andrews said, 'Onchain transactions between two individuals shouldn't mean publishing your financial history to the world.' The relaunch comes as Ethereum developers consider proposals for next year's Hegotá upgrade, which would allow privacy pools to pay their own transaction fees without intermediaries. Vitalik Buterin has also expressed interest in using zero-knowledge proofs to provide strong privacy through special-purpose apps.
