BabyDoge Takes Control of LimeWire, Shifts Focus to Creator Ownership
BabyDoge has acquired LimeWire, an internet-era file-sharing brand, under undisclosed terms. The platform will be led by Abel Czupor, who takes over from Julian and Paul Zehetmayr, the brothers who relaunched LimeWire in 2022.
LimeWire plans to focus on decentralized storage, AI tools, and creator ownership. LMWR remains the native utility token for the platform, which will be used for services including decentralized file storage and access to AI tools.
The Zehetmayr brothers had planned to turn LimeWire into a music-focused NFT marketplace but have now moved away from that model. Czupor stated that the next chapter for LimeWire is about taking its foundation to a larger audience and community, citing the platform's 8 million monthly users.
