Balancer Prepares for Shutdown with Orderly Wind-Down Plan
Crypto protocol Balancer is taking steps to plan for its eventual shutdown. The proposal aims to create an orderly wind-down process, giving liquidity providers time to exit and distributing remaining treasury assets to BAL holders.
The proposal suggests stopping new pool creation, reducing activity across the protocol, and eventually returning treasury assets to token holders. This approach seeks to avoid abandoning the protocol and leaving users stuck in old pools, with stranded treasury assets, and a non-functional governance system.
While Balancer has not yet reached the point of execution, the proposal is sparking discussion among contributors. A Snapshot vote is expected to run from September 25 through September 29, but no decision has been made.
