Balancer Winds Down: Users Must Exit by October 30
Balancer, an automated market maker, has announced its plan to cease operations. The protocol will begin winding down on October 30, 2026, when pools that can be halted will switch to 'withdrawals only.' This means users can still withdraw their funds but cannot add new money or participate in swaps.
Token holders have until September 29 to vote on the proposal, which outlines a two-year timeline for the wind-down. Those who hold BAL tokens will receive a share of the organization's assets by burning their tokens and redeeming them at the end of May 2027.
The proposal states that anyone who does not redeem their tokens in round one will have no share in round two, which means they will miss out on additional distributions. This could result in significant financial losses for those who fail to act.
