Banco do Brasil Invests $5M in Citi-Issued Digital Note on Euroclear Blockchain

Share

Banco do Brasil has made its first investment in digital notes, putting $5 million into a structured note issued by Citi on Euroclear's blockchain-based infrastructure. This marks the first transaction of its kind involving a Latin American institution.

The structured note was issued through Citigroup Global Markets Funding Luxembourg SCA and managed through Euroclear's Digital Financial Market Infrastructure (D-FMI) platform, which uses distributed ledger technology to issue, register, and manage securities.

Banco do Brasil views financial market digitization as a long-term structural trend and sees transactions of this type as helping establish standards, governance systems, and infrastructure capable of supporting a new generation of digital assets.
