Bank Chain Alliance to Launch Bank-Owned Blockchain Network Amid Stablecoin Competition
The BankChain Alliance has announced plans to build a bank-owned blockchain network in 2027. The network will support tokenized deposits, stablecoins, smart payment tools, and automated settlement.
The consortium includes over 3,000 institutions and $21.8 trillion in assets. It aims to create a platform for treasury management, supply chain financing, and cash management.
JPMorgan Chase and other major banks have reportedly explored the possibility of issuing their own stablecoins, which has put pressure on Circle's stock.
