Bank Leumi Set to Launch Crypto Trading for 2.5M Clients in 2027
Israel's largest commercial bank, Bank Leumi, plans to introduce cryptocurrency trading for its 2.5 million retail clients in early 2027. The move will be through the Leumi Trade platform and Pepper app, which will offer Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana trading alongside traditional financial services.
The integration of crypto trading is a result of improved regulations in Israel, following a failed attempt by Bank Leumi to launch crypto services in 2022 due to regulatory issues. The bank has partnered with Galaxy Digital and custody provider GK8 to handle custody and tax compliance for its clients.
According to the source, this move could set a precedent for crypto adoption in mainstream Israeli banking. However, it is pending final approval from the Bank of Israel.
