Bank of America Scales Back Bet on Bitcoin-Focused Strategy Inc.
Bank of America has significantly reduced its stake in Strategy Inc., formerly known as MicroStrategy, in a move that highlights institutional investors' growing unease about the company's high-risk Bitcoin strategy. The bank trimmed its position by approximately 70%, from around 4 million shares worth $495 million to roughly 1.2 million shares valued at $110 million.
This drastic reduction is documented in Bank of America's latest 13F filing, which covers Q2 2026 holdings. The move is striking given that the bank had increased its stake just one quarter earlier, in Q1 2026, by about 3.1%, bringing its holdings to roughly 3.97 million shares valued at $494.9 million.
The numbers clearly indicate aggressive de-risking on the part of Bank of America. The bank shed approximately 2.8 million shares in a single quarter, significantly reducing its exposure to Strategy Inc.
