Bloomberg Expands Crypto Coverage to Top 50 Assets Amid Institutional Adoption
Bloomberg's cryptocurrency coverage has expanded significantly in recent years, from initially tracking Bitcoin prices on its Terminal platform in 2013 to now offering data on the top 50 crypto assets by market capitalization. The company's product manager for cryptocurrencies, Alex Wenham, stated that Bloomberg's mission is 'to help the global institutional investor community to seamlessly incorporate digital assets into their workflows in a trusted and familiar way, on the Bloomberg Terminal.'
The expansion of Bloomberg's cryptocurrency coverage has been rapid, with 40 additional coins being added to its Terminal platform in June 2022. This brings the total number of crypto assets covered by Bloomberg to 50, including Ethereum, XRP, Litecoin, and others. Users can access intraday pricing, indices, and futures contracts through the CRYP function on the Terminal.
Bloomberg has also integrated specialist data from Block Scholes, which provides implied volatility surfaces, forward curves, and Greeks for Bitcoin and Ether markets. Additionally, the company's Token Terminal application offers blockchain revenue and financial-statement-style metrics, giving institutions a familiar framework for analyzing crypto assets.
