Banking Associations Unite for Nationwide Blockchain Network
A coalition of 39 state banking associations has launched the BankChain Alliance to create an industry-controlled blockchain platform. The initiative aims to go live by 2027 and will facilitate tokenized deposits, stablecoins, and intelligent payment systems.
Kathy Kraninger, former CFPB director and current Florida Bankers Association CEO, chairs the project on an interim basis. The alliance is actively seeking a technology partner and intends to ensure cross-blockchain compatibility.
The proposed blockchain platform will enable advanced payment capabilities, tokenized bank deposits, stablecoin transactions, and automated settlement processes. According to Kraninger, the infrastructure will provide a secure and compliant framework for banking institutions of varying sizes to deliver contemporary financial products and services.
