Bankman-Fried Buys Uniswap.com for Seven Figures, Redirects to Rival Fork
Uniswap, one of the largest decentralized exchanges in the crypto space, has been at the center of a domain name controversy involving its founder, Hayden Adams. According to Adams, Sam Bankman-Fried, the former CEO of FTX, paid seven figures for the Uniswap.com domain and redirected it to a rival fork.
The original owners of Uniswap.com had asked for a price in the seven-figure range, but Uniswap refused to pay that amount. Bankman-Fried subsequently purchased the domain name, which was valued at over $1 million but less than $10 million, and redirected it to the rival fork.
The matter eventually went to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), which ruled in favor of transferring the domain name to Uniswap Labs. However, by that time, Bankman-Fried had already purchased the domain name for an undisclosed seven-figure amount.
