Banks to Shape Future of Stablecoins: Fireblocks Exec
Ran Goldi, SVP of Payments and Network at Fireblocks, believes that traditional banks will play a significant role in shaping the future of stablecoins. He argued that enterprises are hesitant to adopt stablecoins not due to regulatory uncertainty or compliance concerns, but because their treasury operations are not equipped for on-chain liquidity management.
Goldi described the current moment as a 'tale of two cities,' where crypto markets struggle with volatility while the stablecoin and payments sector experiences unprecedented institutional interest. He noted that every large Fortune 500 company wants to come in, but widespread adoption requires banks to move first.
The shift is already visible in emerging markets, where several banks offer stablecoin accounts. Goldi identified remittances as the sector furthest ahead in real-world deployment and predicted that it will be the big winner of 2026.
He also warned that public blockchains do not meet institutional privacy expectations and that a coming consolidation is expected to contract the number of stablecoins and networks from hundreds to just three within five to seven years.
