Barça Fan Lab Debuts on Cardano with Verifiable Credentials

FC Barcelona has launched its new Barça Fan Lab platform on the Cardano network. The project is developed in collaboration with technology partner Andamio and backed by Catalyst Fund 13, a decentralized community grant program.

The technical integration links the existing BarçaID digital identity framework with a Cardano Web3 wallet to store verifiable credentials. Upon logging into the environment, the software automatically provisions a digital wallet on the Cardano network linked to each fan's account.

The system's architecture allows users to store access tokens and educational badges without requiring advanced knowledge of cryptographic self-custody. The curriculum is structured across four educational and participatory modules, covering topics such as the club's history, environmental sustainability, social inclusion initiatives, and digital collectibles.

The project originated in part from Catalyst Fund 13, where $ADA holders vote on community-driven proposals. This grant award explains the selection of Cardano over rival smart contract platforms. The underlying infrastructure was provided by Andamio, a platform specializing in course management software and credentials-based decentralized rewards.
