Barclays Boost Falls Flat for Fintech Stocks Amid Broader Sell-Off
Barclays recently initiated coverage of several fintech stocks, including Strategy (MSTR) and Block (XYZ), giving them 'Overweight' ratings. Despite this positive assessment, both MSTR and XYZ fell in morning trading on Wednesday amid the broader sell-off in stocks.
The firm assigned a price target of $130 to MSTR and $100 to XYZ, representing an upside of around 30% from Monday's close. However, these targets are well below the analyst average, with MSTR's target being significantly lower at $303, as per Koyfin data.
Both stocks have been affected by the broader market weakness, with MSTR falling nearly 4% and XYZ slumping 1.5%. Retail sentiment on Stocktwits around Strategy remains divided, with some expecting a further decline to $50 while others remain optimistic about Bitcoin's long-term outlook tied to the CLARITY Act.
