Router Cross-Chain Infrastructure to Shut Down Amid Revenue Shortfalls

Routing Protocol (Router) will shut down its cross-chain infrastructure by September 30. The project, backed by Coinbase Ventures and Polygon, had been operational for over four years.

The decision comes after two years of reduced Web3 liquidity and decreased fees from moving assets between networks.

Router's revenue failed to cover the costs of maintaining its infrastructure and development, leading the team to pursue commercialization deals and technology licensing without success. A planned burn of 303 million ROUTE tokens, representing over 30% of the original maximum supply, will occur before the shutdown.
