Barry Silbert Doubles Down on AI Token Bittensor ($TAO) Citing Scarcity Model Similarities to Bitcoin and Zcash
Barry Silbert, the founder of Digital Currency Group (DCG) and self-proclaimed 'crypto king', is placing his bets on Bittensor's AI token ($TAO). He believes this decentralized artificial intelligence market holds immense potential, drawing parallels with Bitcoin and Zcash due to their scarcity models.
The comparison between $ZEC and $TAO lies in the strict mathematical scarcity parameters built into their code. Both have a fixed supply, capped at 21 million coins, and regular halvings. Unlike traditional Proof of Work (PoW) networks, Bittensor's miners compete in training and evaluating real AI models within competing subnets.
Silbert has been investing in Bittensor since 2021 and is openly calling it the most exciting project since Bitcoin. He believes BTC has moved into a mature defensive asset category, no longer capable of delivering high returns. In contrast, $TAO offers an asymmetric bet with potential for significant growth.
To support this thesis, Silbert created Yuma Group, a subsidiary operating as a major validator and managing specialized funds for accredited investors. Additionally, Grayscale Investments provides regulated access to the token through its AI trust.
