Base Bolsters Tokenized Finance with Cobalt Upgrade
Base has completed its Cobalt upgrade, which adds new tools for tokenized assets and expands its B20 token standard. The upgrade allows issuers to apply multiple compliance checks to a single asset, such as identity checks or accreditation requirements.
The changes also introduce Validity Transactions, which allow traders to submit transactions that become eligible only when specified onchain conditions are met. This gives users more control over transaction timing and can help reduce the risk of counterparty default.
Base's Cobalt upgrade builds on its recent push into tokenized finance, including the introduction of B20 as a native token standard for stablecoins and other fungible tokens. The network has gained significant traction in this area, with Coinbase launching tokenized US stocks on Base just last month.
