Base Cobalt Upgrade Bolsters Trading Controls with Validity Transactions
The Base Cobalt upgrade has gone live on September 30, marking its third mainnet update. This release brings several significant changes to the network, including Validity Transactions and new controls for token issuers.
Validity Transactions allow users to set conditions and deadlines before submitting transactions, which are then checked by Base before inclusion in the blockchain. The interface keeps submissions private until they reach the blockchain. For example, a trader can require a swap's pool price to reach a minimum USDC value before a chosen block, and Base will include qualifying transactions while excluding those that miss the deadline.
The upgrade also expands transfer policies with Composite Policies, which let issuers combine existing approval and restriction lists using AND or OR rules. This enables issuers to reuse these lists without copying entries or keeping separate systems aligned.
