BDACS, South Korea's largest digital asset custodian by assets under custody, has chosen LayerZero's Omnichain Fungible Token (OFT) standard to support cross-chain transfers of its KRW1 stablecoin. The decision aims to expand the use of the won-backed asset beyond South Korea.

The OFT integration will give BDACS a unified framework for managing KRW1 across multiple networks, eliminating the need for separate pools of liquidity on each chain. LayerZero's Stargate application will handle transfers for users, ensuring that tokens are debited on the source chain and credited on the destination chain.

KRW1 already operates on several networks, including Ethereum, Avalanche, and Circle's Arc. However, previous deployments created friction when moving the stablecoin between chains, limiting its distribution and utility. The new setup will maintain a unified supply of KRW1 across connected chains.
