Belarusian Authorities Crack Down on Cryptocurrency Courier Scam

Share

The Belarusian Interior Ministry launched a major operation targeting individuals who allegedly helped telephone scammers obtain victims' money. These suspects acted as cryptocurrency couriers, collecting funds from hiding places where victims had left their savings after being instructed by scammers.

The collected funds were then converted into cryptocurrency and transferred to the electronic wallets of the scheme's organizers. With support from Interior Ministry special units, 19 people were detained in the Minsk region.

Seven of those detained have been remanded in custody. Investigators are now working to establish the circumstances of the group's activities, the number of victims affected, and any potential damage caused.
