Beldex Launches Privacy Tokens on Testnet for Confidential Transactions
Beldex, a blockchain focused on privacy, has launched a new feature called Confidential Assets, also known as Privacy Tokens, on its testnet. The update rolled out via the Proto testnet hard fork, which activated at testnet block height 4,242,200. This move allows developers to deploy and test privacy-preserving tokens directly on the Beldex network before a planned mainnet release.
With Privacy Tokens, projects can issue their own private tokens on the Beldex blockchain, ensuring built-in transaction confidentiality. The feature leverages Beldex’s UTXO-based architecture, which includes ring signatures and stealth addresses derived from Monero’s cryptography. Beldex’s Chairman & CEO Afanddy Bin Hushni emphasized that Privacy Tokens enable projects to issue tokens with default privacy protection, eliminating the need for separate privacy layers or workarounds.
For users, this means that every token deployed through the system will inherently include transaction-level privacy, hiding sender amounts, recipient addresses, and balances from public view. While EVM-based token deployment will be supported later, Beldex is prioritizing privacy first before layering on EVM compatibility. The network already hosts several decentralized applications, including BChat, BelNet, and the Beldex Browser, creating a robust privacy ecosystem.
Beldex is also developing the Beldex Extension Wallet and a WebJS SDK to enhance the practicality of Privacy Tokens. These tools will allow web-based applications to interact with users’ wallets and private tokens without exposing sensitive transaction data. The introduction of Privacy Tokens aligns with Beldex’s long-term vision, offering a path to migrate tokens from the UTXO layer to an EVM-compatible ecosystem while retaining privacy properties.
