Beldex Launches Privacy Tokens on Testnet for Confidential Transactions
Beldex, a blockchain network focused on privacy, has launched Confidential Assets, also called Privacy Tokens, on its testnet. The feature, introduced via the Proto testnet hard fork at block height 4,242,200, allows developers to create and test privacy-preserving tokens before they roll out on the mainnet.
The new feature enables projects to issue tokens with built-in transaction confidentiality. Beldex’s UTXO-based architecture, which already includes privacy features like ring signatures and stealth addresses derived from Monero’s cryptography, will support this. Afanddy Bin Hushni, Chairman & CEO of Beldex, emphasized that Privacy Tokens provide privacy-by-default, eliminating the need for separate privacy layers.
For users, this means that any token deployed through the system will have transaction-level privacy by default, hiding sender amounts, recipient addresses, and balances. While EVM-based token deployment is planned for later, Beldex is prioritizing privacy-first infrastructure before adding EVM compatibility. The network already hosts several privacy-focused dApps, including BChat, BelNet, and the Beldex Browser.
Beldex is also developing the Beldex Extension Wallet and a WebJS SDK to facilitate interactions between web-based applications and Privacy Tokens. These tools will allow dApps to request transfers and display balances without exposing sensitive transaction data. Chief Strategy Officer Cris Blanco highlighted that Privacy Tokens enable developers to build entire application economies where privacy is the foundation.
The introduction of Privacy Tokens aligns with Beldex’s long-term vision, including plans to support account-based addresses and an EVM sidechain. This will allow projects to migrate tokens from the UTXO layer to the EVM ecosystem while retaining their privacy properties, making Beldex one of the few networks offering a reliable path from UTXO-native privacy to EVM-compatible privacy tokens.
