Ben-Sasson: Privacy and Quantum Security Will Dominate Crypto's Next Phase
Zcash co-founder Eli Ben-Sasson believes that two features will become essential for the next phase of cryptocurrency development: privacy and post-quantum security. According to him, both features must be easy to use and low in cost to gain traction.
The importance of these features is highlighted by recent advancements in quantum computing, which could potentially threaten some current cryptographic schemes. Ben-Sasson's startup StarkWare has already demonstrated a quantum-safe Bitcoin transaction on the mainnet, showcasing its capabilities.
In the context of Zcash, the upcoming NU7 upgrade aims to improve block time and implement post-quantum security features. The testnet activation for the upgrade is scheduled for October 6, with the mainnet upgrade set to take place on November 5.
