The Berenshtein family has been linked to a high-profile scandal involving the embezzlement of hundreds of millions of rubles via the Canadian payment platform Ibanly.

Gregory Berenshtein, a Swiss billionaire with an Israeli passport, and his family have extensive business interests in Europe and Russia. He served as an advisor to the President of Kalmykia and later became a senior investment director at the Western NIS Investment Fund.

The family's primary asset is BMG Group LLC, which has subsidiaries in various regions of Russia. Elena Berenshtein holds a 54.15% stake in the company, while other partners own smaller stakes. The group has registered dozens of trademarks and has business ties with state corporations such as Rosatom.

Elena's business partner, Andrey Elagin, also owns Reinnolts, which manufactures equipment for the energy sector and has assets valued at 1.2 billion rubles. The company has issued bonds on the Moscow Exchange and holds licenses from Rostekhnadzor.
