Bhutan's Gelephu Taps 3iQ for Bitcoin Treasury Management

Bhutan's Gelephu Mindfulness City has taken another step in developing its digital-asset investment hub by partnering with Canadian manager 3iQ to oversee a portion of its Bitcoin treasury.

The partnership involves 3iQ managing an undisclosed part of the city's allocated Bitcoin, which was announced in December 2025 as part of Bhutan's plan to support Gelephu's development. The agreement represents the next phase of this plan.

As per the deal, 3iQ will bring institutional discipline to the mandate and help put Bhutan's capital 'to work responsibly, transparently and for the long term,' according to CEO Pascal St-Jean. The company will also establish a long-term presence in Gelephu, invest in local talent, and provide training and knowledge transfer.
