Biden's Crypto Gambit: $LAPTOP Takes Center Stage

Hunter Biden is reportedly launching his own cryptocurrency, dubbed $LAPTOP, which will trade on Base. According to The Wall Street Journal, Biden posted a compilation video of outlets and Trump administration officials referencing the infamous laptop he dropped off at a computer repair shop in Delaware in April 2019.

The laptop contained emails, documents, and financial records, along with explicit photos that appeared to show Biden with women in hotel rooms and doing drugs. Biden's lawyers have said the files were manipulated, but prosecutors did not find evidence of corruption or any crime beyond related to drug use.

Biden has been vocal on social media about his public grievances, including the laptop controversy. He has also expressed support for digital currencies, stating that Congress needs 'to truly understand the value and potential utility of cryptocurrency' and calling decentralized digital currency the 'inevitable future.'

Notably, Hunter Biden's cryptocurrency launch comes after President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump launched a pair of meme coins in January 2025, reaping $1 billion in gains for themselves while most investors lost money.
