Biden's LAPTOP Memecoin Aims to Profit from Trump Coin Buyers' Losses
Hunter Biden is launching a memecoin called LAPTOP, which will be deployed on Base, Coinbase's layer 2 network. The token is set to launch on September 9 and has already generated interest in the market.
The distribution of the coin is built around President Donald Trump's memecoin, with 20% of the 1 billion supply reserved for airdrops across two rounds. Wallets that lost money on TRUMP are among the intended recipients, along with subscribers to Biden's Substack and the mailing list of video journalist Andrew Callaghan.
The supply splits as follows: founders, including Biden, control 300 million tokens, none of which can be moved for six months. Another 200 million pays for market-making, exchange listings, and lawyers. Up to a third of the supply is queued for destruction under certain conditions, such as a Democratic win in 2028 or LAPTOP surpassing TRUMP's price.
