US authorities have accused Binance of being used to launder millions in proceeds from black market oil sales.

A civil forfeiture complaint filed in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York alleges that two Hong Kong-based companies, Blessed Trust Ltd. and Hexa Whale Trading Ltd., helped launder the money by converting fiat currency into cryptoassets via 'on-ramp' services.

The U.S. government is seeking to seize $61.2 million in Tether (USDT) from seven interrelated crypto wallets that have been frozen since mid-2025, which allegedly facilitated over $1.5 billion worth of illicit Iranian oil sales.
