Binance Bets Big on Circle with $100 Million Equity Stake
The stablecoin distribution model has undergone a significant shift with Circle and Binance's new agreement. On September 17, 2026, Binance purchased a $100 million equity stake in Circle, approximately 1,237,011 Class A shares at $80.84 per share, at a 5% discount to the prevailing market price.
The deal includes a five-year commercial agreement that replaces two prior short-term deals between the two companies. Under its terms, Circle pays Binance a monthly incentive fee structured as a percentage of USDC held in Binance's Modular Smart Contract Wallet, while Binance commits to actively promoting USDC on its platform.
This structural shift from transactional payment incentives to long-term alignment is a significant development in the stablecoin infrastructure. The deal highlights Binance's confidence in Circle's compliant and transparent digital dollar infrastructure and its potential for growth in emerging markets.
