Binance Bolsters Compliance Team with High-Profile Hires

Binance Holdings has made two significant hires to bolster its compliance team amid ongoing scrutiny from US regulators. Antonio Alvarez and Duncan DeVille, both previously working at Crypto.com, have joined Binance in key roles.

Alvarez will serve as deputy to Global Chief Compliance Officer Noah Perlman, who was hired by Binance in 2023 after a stint at Gemini. DeVille takes on the position of global head of financial crime compliance.

The hires come amidst staff turnover within Binance's compliance teams earlier this year, which may have raised concerns about the company's commitment to improving its regulatory posture.

Binance pleaded guilty in 2023 to violations related to sanctions and anti-money laundering laws as part of a deferred prosecution agreement. This agreement requires the company to demonstrate meaningful compliance improvements.
