Binance Boosts Tokenized Stocks Offering with Expanded Collateral Options
Binance has expanded its tokenized stocks offering by allowing bStocks to be used as collateral for all Cross Margin and Portfolio Margin accounts. This move provides users with additional options for utilizing their tokenized stock holdings in Binance's trading ecosystem.
The update allows bStocks to be used more widely in margin trading services, but Binance has implemented new risk measures for certain account types. Regular, VIP 1, and VIP 2 accounts must conduct a suitability test before using bStocks as collateral, and Binance can impose limitations on further transfers of bStocks and restrictions on purchasing and borrowing low-liquidity assets.
The exchange also expanded the list of assets related to tokenized stock offerings by adding Cypherpunk Technologies (CYPHB), AMC Entertainment Holdings (AMCB), and Axe Compute (AGPUB) as collateral assets. These tokens can be used for Portfolio Margin, Unified Account Mode, and Unified Account Pro.
Binance's move comes in the context of regulatory activity surrounding tokenized securities. The SEC introduced an Innovation Exemption to apply to selected platforms dealing with tokenized securities, which will give eligible markets permission to conduct some trading of tokenized US stocks onchain within certain parameters.
