Binance Brings USDT Payments to Millions of Japanese Merchants
Binance has launched Binance Pay in Japan, allowing eligible overseas users to spend Tether USDt (USDT) at millions of merchants nationwide.
The service is made possible through HIVEX, a payment interoperability framework that connects overseas QR payment services to PayPay-supported merchants in Japan.
According to Binance, this is the first crypto payment service to access PayPay-supported merchants through HIVEX, and merchants will continue receiving settlement in yen without needing to opt-in separately.
The move comes as Japan welcomed a record 42.7 million international visitors in 2025, with the country ranking ninth worldwide and first in Asia in the latest comparable global ranking based on 2024 data.
