Binance BTC and ETH Holdings Fall as USDT Liquidity Holds Firm
Binance, one of the world's largest cryptocurrency exchanges, saw its holdings of Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) decrease in tandem over the past week. According to on-chain analytics platform CryptoQuant, Binance's BTC holdings dropped from approximately 701,000 coins on February 21st to 678,000 by February 28th, a decline of about 23,000 BTC or 3.3%. Meanwhile, ETH holdings also decreased from around 3.65 million to 3.54 million, a reduction of roughly 110,000 ETH or 3%.
Despite the decrease in BTC and ETH balances, USDT liquidity remained elevated at $38.1 billion on February 29th. This stark contrast has led some observers to speculate that investors may be weighing re-entry timing rather than exiting the market entirely.
CryptoQuant noted that a decline in exchange BTC and ETH holdings typically suggests investors have moved assets to external wallets or selling pressure has emerged. However, persistently high USDT balances can be interpreted as a sign that sidelined capital remains abundant in the market.
